ABOUT US
West Seattle Summer Fest, brought to you by West Seattle Junction merchants, is a free 3-day annual street festival produced by West Seattle Junction Association. We are a family-oriented event with strong community ties, and each year we get excited to show off all that the Junction has to offer.
History
In 1983, West Seattle merchants were looking for opportunities to promote
the Junction and bring in more business. A local business owner, Margaret
Miaullis, came up with the idea and initiated and organized the first
Junction Merchants’ Sidewalk Sale. Well-received, the sale
continued year after year and became an annual Junction celebration.
Once a modest community event, over the years more and more activities
were added, and a larger audience was attracted, and today it is renowned
as the West Seattle Summer Fest, voted “favorite
annual event” by Herald-News readers and attracting visitors
from the entire Puget Sound region. Margaret’s passion
for her community and her adaptable, willing attitude was the festival’s
foundation, and her spirit, dedication and commitment kept it going
and insured its success for 21 years until her retirement in 2004.
The Junction Association’s goal is to continue producing and growing
the festival with the same integrity that Margaret did for so many years. This
year a number of changes to improve the festival have been implemented and
we’re very excited about this year’s event. We hope you
are, too.
Our Mission
The mission of the West Seattle Junction Association is to develop,
encourage, promote and participate in activities that enhance a healthy
